Industry Rate Cards
2025 Update:
Important notes for consideration:
- These rate cards were first released in 2023 and may not fully reflect current market rates.
- We’re currently reviewing and updating them, and will share the revised rates as soon as they are ready.
Please keep this in mind when referencing the rate cards on this page, and thank you for your patience while we complete this work.
Soft Release Information:
We’d like to thank everyone for their ongoing support with the Rate Card Project. This has always been a highly complex process, and we are proud to note that the first Screen Industry Rate Card Guides for all departments were initially published as a soft release in 2023 for wider review by Screen Guild members.
At that stage, the cards were still a work in progress, requiring more cross-departmental comparison and confirmation. They were intended as an unofficial guide to help inform negotiations, but not as confirmed indications of expected industry rates.
The figures presented are indicative of weekly rates unless indicated as otherwise on each card. The final column on each card represents the Short Term Engagement (STE) or daily rate.
The purpose of the soft release was to invite feedback from the wider membership to refine the submitted rates and ensure that the correlated data was as accurate as possible.
To develop the initial rate cards, each departments’ roles were divided into the following categories which are reflected on the cards:
- Management and HOD’s
- Supervisors and Coordinators
- General experienced Crew
- Assistants
- Runners
- Trainees
- Combos
If you feel your role has been placed within an incorrect category, please email us to advise.

If you have any comments or feedback relative to your role category or a rates value entry for your specific departmental role, please get in touch with us via email at: ratecards@screenguild.co.nz
If you are submitting information relative to a rate entry, we will require the following information to be included in your email:
- Your Department.
- Your Role.
- Which budget band your rate submission relates to.
- 3 x Proof of payment - in the form of invoices or bank statement entries to verify any rates value in question.
NB: Changes will only be made by majority consensus.
We thank you in advance for your valuable participation.
SIWA MINIMUM RATES
The rates displayed on these cards are NOT representative of the minimum rate guide that will be required for the occupational contracts under the Screen Industry Workers Act.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
Please be advised that these are living documents that have not been finalised for general use with the sector until wider review has been submitted.
Negotiation remains at the centre of agreed crew rates. Even when finalised, these cards will remain broad guidelines only.
Crew members will still be required to determine through negotiation with production where they sit within the displayed rates guidelines.
We thank all members in advance for supporting this process.
The Screen Guild Rate Card Committee.
