Christchurch: Autumn 2024

Canterbury's strong start: International commercials, local short films, and TV projects highlight the region's appeal.

Well its been a bumper start to theyear! Apparently the internationals commercials have remembered that Canterbury has some lovely locations on offer and is a perfect spot to shoot off season content from the northern hemisphere. We’ve hosted crews from Japan, South Korea, India and Chinain the last 2 months and all have raved about their time here. It’s lovely to learn different techniques and approaches to shooting while not having to go through the bother of customs, excess baggage or the dreaded carnet.

On the Drama front, there have been a few local short films.

Most notably Sister Josephine from director Stef Harris and producer Amanda Jenkins about about a pugilist nun. And Homecoming from Grae Meek and Anna Canton.

In TV land, SPP have a project startingin South Canterbury shortly and of course Dark City: The Cleaner is out now showing off Christchurch's grittier side.

All in all, a great start to what is shaping up to be a great year for the region. Don’t for get the sun block, catch you on set.
