Arkles Upset!

John Davies critiques NZ Herald’s influence on film reviews and local cinema advertising policies.

John Davies, the owner of the distribution company Arkles Entertainment which specialises in art-house films, is once again taking to task the NZHerald and its film critic Peter Calder, for his contrary review of the movie Morris, A Life with Bells On.

Davies also attacks the monopoly power and undue influence

resulting from the NZHerald’s position as Auckland’s sole daily,

power which destroyed Gaylene Preston’s Perfect Strangers, plus the

Herald’s banning of his advertisements for the Academy Cinema from their paper. His newsletter is well worth a read. www.arklesentertainment.com
