Queenstown: Summer 2023
The Film Industry is tracking along in this part of the country with a handful of smaller projects and productions, some TVC's, Reality & Drama. The Summit reality TV show recently wrapped up, and Libertine Pics UTV3 just about to wrap up. Silverback have been visiting from UK for a VFX shoot, Kathmandu have a stills shoot planned, and Finch is down from Auckland for a pre-christmas TVC. In the New Year, Screentime will start prep for a drama shoot, and there are other projects set to arrive - potentially a busy 2024 it seems. Long may that last.
Until we get a functional studio in this region, all our film projects will continue to rely absolutely on access to homes, properties and spaces for filming locations, and workspaces for Art, Costume & Production. And this access relies absolutely on favourable relationships built by the Locations team, and supported by the wider crew.
We are blessed with some tremendously supportive locals who regularly invite us to make creative use of their spaces: Alastair Porter & Paula Jalfron, Kelvin Middleton, John Foster, Jim Veint and now Ryan Leggatt, Liz Mee, John Darby, NZSki, Sam Lee, to name a few... Sincere thanks to all of our location providers.
But today my shout-out is to Brett Mills, and Roger & Gillian Norton for making the workshop at the Film Inc yard available as an Art Department base for our recent projects. Simply-put this space is a godsend. BIG THANKS! Flexibility to use how we need, great parking, and fibre internet coming.
GT called for photos to be sent with area wrap's this edition, so I've just spent some time scrolling through my photos (sweet-Heyzus, if anyone stole my phone they really would wonder what-on-earth! Art Department...) Sharing here some Art Workshop pics (and a random bag of cash).
Merry Christmas, see you out there.
